Description
This session will include an introduction to the Office Of The Independent Adjudicator’s complaint scheme, their remit and how they look at complaints. The session will also highlight key guidance and resources, including revised sections of the Good Practice framework, guidance related to the cost of living and academic misconduct, and other useful resources such as toolkits and case summaries.

By the end of this section, you should be able to:
• Understand the role and function of the Office of the Independent Adjudicator (OIA) and their complaint scheme in the context of higher education, and how they approach and handle complaints from students.
• Understand the OIA's methodology and criteria for examining complaints, including the factors they consider when making adjudications.
• Identify key guidance and resources provided by the OIA, such as toolkits and case summaries, that can assist students, institutions, and other stakeholders in addressing and resolving issues related to higher education complaints.
• Explore how these resources can be utilised to support and enhance the quality and integrity of the student experience within higher education institutions.
